First published back in August of 2003, N.G. Christakos’ chapbook ‘Jack Ketchum: A Selected Bibliography’ was a limited-edition chapbook which was limited to just 250 copies, each of which were signed by author Jack Ketchum.
DLS Synopsis:
The chapbook provides a listing of the published works of Jack Ketchum, up to the date of the chapbook’s publication (August 2003). This includes pieces credited to Dallas Mayr, Jerzy Livingston, Bruce Arthur, and Dallas Ketchum, or titles that were published uncredited (unless they were later published under Jack Ketchum).
The chapbook is split into the three distinct sections, with their respective listings within each. These sections are:
- Books, Novellas, And Chapbooks (12 Pages)
- Fiction (22 Pages)
- Non-Fiction (5 Pages)
The ‘Books, Novellas, And Chapbooks’ section lists out the books in order of release, with their respective publication dates for the US publications (unless the foreign publication predated the first US printing). It should be noted that the listings only cover physical copies, and as such, online/ebook versions are not detailed.
Each listing provides the book title, followed by the listed US versions, the publishers’ location, the publishers’ name, the year of publication, the format, the copyright year and release year (if different), the number of copies within the print run (if known), and any other relevant details such as if it was a limited-edition release, or if there was additional content included within that version.
The ‘Fiction’ section lists out Ketchum’s stories (from short stories to full-length novels), all of which are presented in alphabetical order, and then which publication(s) those stories can be found.
The ‘Non-Fiction’ section details the non-fiction work Ketchum penned, including introductions for other authors’ work, and again, in which publication(s) the pieces can be found.
Well, what can I say?! It’s a very detailed and comprehensive list of Ketchum’s work, which provides an excellent resource for collectors and/or reviewers, very much of the ilk that DLS Reviews finds itself within.
Obviously, this bibliography is restricted to just those publications which were released prior to the publication of this chapbook (Christakos didn’t have a crystal ball). Therefore, there are quite a number of publications which are missing, as they were published after August 2003. You can of course, use the ‘Jack Ketchum’ page on DLS Reviews to see a more complete list of the latter offerings.
However, for a list of the more obscure pieces, such as the non-fiction works in particular, the chapbook provides a comprehensive resource. Although, the listings do not include any images (such as covers), nor do they detail the page count of each publication.
Nevertheless, its still a handy bibliography to check details with, and let’s be honest, one of those limited-edition publications a Ketchum collector feels they should have in their collection for completeness if nothing else!
The chapbook runs for a total of 40 pages.
