What can I say?  Grady Hendrix’s expose on the twisted history of ‘70s and ‘80s horror fiction – ‘Paperbacks From Hell’ (2017) – is everything I hoped it would be.  It documents the history of pulp horror paperbacks over that glorious two decade period, where you couldn’t move for cow-sized killer crabs and mutant brain-eating babies.  And this wondrous history of horror is told in such an enthusiastic and entertaining way, by a man who clearly knows his game.

For pulp horror enthusiasts, trust me, this is absolutely essential reading...
