I’ve just got back from a short break with the family.  A nice relaxing week enjoying good food, real ales, and some pleasant time being with the wife and kids.  And of course I got to read some more books.

So next to be added to DLS Reviews is Grace McCleen’s recent novel ‘The Offering’ (2015).  Not the most cheerful of tales it has to be said, this is some downbeat and misery-laced reading.  It also gives a healthy kick to the crotch of religion, which is never a bad thing in my opinion.

It has its faults, but if you like your novels bleak and drenched in brooding sadness, then it’s still well worth a read; especially with its utterly miserable ending.
