Well, I can hardly believe it.  Here we are at last.  DLS Reviews is finally online and available for public consumption.  It's taken far longer than I ever envisioned it would to get here.  After looking back through the progress of the site I can see that I started to build it back in August of 2009.  That's coming on for five years!  Okay, so over this period I didn't exactly dedicate all my time to putting together the website.  Far from it.  Indeed over the four and a half years or so since I first decided to build a website to house all of my book reviews I've become a father to twins, I've gotten married, changed my career path, moved house, along with a whole host of other things.

But here we are at last.  After all that time spent reworking old reviews, writing new ones, learning how to construct a website, spending whatever time I could in building the damn thing - it's finally up and online.  To be honest, I'm still a bit shell-shocked that it's finally done.  And no doubt the same can be said for all of those who have known about me building this site since I first started.  I'm sure there's more than just a few who had begun to think it would never materialise.  I have to admit, there have been times when I too began to wonder the same.  But thankfully the fruit of all that labour did eventually come to something.

So anyway, this is Blog Entry #1 of hopefully many, many years worth.  Now that DLS Reviews is online, the plan is to add new reviews whenever I've read a book.  So hopefully over time it will prove to become quite an informative resource for anyone interested in genre fiction.

To celebrate the launch of DLS Reviews, as I've had planned for some time now, I decided to open the 30yo Highland Park that my wonderful wife bought me a year or two ago.  Indeed, if today isn't a day for a little celebration, then when is?  So as I sit here, looking over the site that's swallowed up so many thousands of hours of my life so far, I'm getting to enjoy one of the very finest whiskies that I've had the pleasure to taste.

Four-years-nine-months in the making...and DLS Reviews is finally online.  For all those who have dropped by to explore the site, please do register yourself with the forum (linked via the Home page).  Furthermore, if you could take a minute or two to let me know your first impressions of the site, both good and bad, then I would be eternally grateful.  The site promises to be one that's always evolving.  As such, if there's anything that people feel I really should change, remove or add - then I'd love to hear it.  My hope is that DLS Reviews will not just be a small corner within the vast cyberspace for me to feel at home within - but also for others too.

I thank you all for taking the time to visit this page.  Here's looking forward to many many years of overly verbose reviews...
