Apologies for the lack of updates and quietness on the email front for those who have tried to contact me over the last week.  We’ve been away on hols at Killigarth, down in Cornwall, for the last seven days.  Cracking weather, excellent food, superb real ales and just a nice break from it all with the family.

Whilst I was away I polished off two books.  The first, being ‘Lagoon’ (2014) by Nigerian-American author Nnedi Okorafor.  I’ve noticed that some people have been raving about the novel.  Alas, I can’t say it really did much for me.   So sadly just a 5/10 on the site alongside what might be deemed as a bit of a scathing review.  But I have to say that it shouldn’t be seen as that.  Okay, the novel didn’t grab my attention like I hoped it would, but it had its own unique charm about it.  And I’ve learnt a fair bit about Nigerian culture at the same time.  So not all bad at all.  In fact – it’s middle-of-the-road five-out-of-ten territory.

Expect a second book review to follow very shortly.  This one for the next instalment in epic ‘Deathlands’ series…
