NEW REVIEW: Matt Shaw - Sick B*stards (2014)

Posted by Chris Hall on Sunday, May 29, 2016, In : New Review
It was about time I read a Matt Shaw title.  There’s been a glaring gap amongst the hundreds of reviews on DLS Reviews for one of his novels to be dissected.  It was only ever a matter of time.  And now that gap’s been (partially) filled.  I say ‘partially’ because I plan to read and review a hell of a lot more of his titles over the coming months.

So first up on the DLS dissection table is Matt Shaw’s infamous extreme horror offering ‘Sick B*stards’ (2014).  The title’s a good...

NEW REVIEW: David Owain Hughes - Wind-Up Toy: Broken Plaything (2016)

Posted by Chris Hall on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, In : New Review
It’s always a highly entertaining to be written into a piece of fiction.  So far I’ve be cut-down by giant crabs in Guy N Smith’s ‘Killer Crabs: The Return’ (2012), given a darn good beating in Matt Shaw’s ‘One Violent Motherf*cker’ (2016), and now dragged up on stage and…well…how can I put it?...used and abused in David Owain Hughes’ latest offering ‘Wind-Up Toy: Broken Plaything’ (2016).

A full in-depth review is now up on DLS Reviews should you wish to embrace such...

DLS Reviews celebrates two years of online reviewing…

Posted by Chris Hall on Sunday, May 22, 2016,

How time flies when you’re having fun!  Today, the 23rd May 2016, DLS Reviews turns two years old.  That’s two full years of obsessively in-depth and overly verbose reviews.  Two years of plaguing authors with stupid-ass interview questions.  Two years of hassling writers for exclusive stories for the site.  And it’s been a damn fine two years if I do say so myself!

To be honest the site has continued to be an absolute labour of love.  Sometimes painfully time-consuming (anyone who has t...

NEW REVIEW: Graeme Reynolds - High Moor III: Bloodmoon (2015)

Posted by Chris Hall on Friday, May 20, 2016, In : New Review
The final book in Graeme Reynolds’ highly acclaimed ‘High Moor’ trilogy, entitled ‘High Moor III: Bloodmoon’ (2015), has now been dissected over at DLS Reviews.  It’s turned out to be one of the most thorough and in-depth reviews to appear on the site.  But the book deserves it.

An incredible novel to end this fantastic werewolf trilogy with.

NEW REVIEW: Simon Spurrier - Crossed: Wish You Were Here: Vol 1 (2012)

Posted by Chris Hall on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, In : New Review
Next up DLS Reviews slices and dices the first instalment into Simon Spurrier’s ‘Crossed’ offshoot series with ‘Crossed: Wish You Were Here – Volume One’ (2012).  Noticeably less violence and adrenaline-pumping action – but instead with a much more character-driven storyline.  It’s all good!

NEW REVIEW: David Lapham & David Hine - Crossed Volume Five (2013)

Posted by Chris Hall on Saturday, May 7, 2016, In : New Review
Another weekend – another ‘Crossed’ collection put under the scalpel.  This time we have ‘Crossed Volume 5: Badlands’ (2013).  Here we have David Lapham returning for the first story of two stories.  So expect the usual levels of depraved carnage and bloodshed…
