NEW REVIEW: Alex Davis - After The Fall (2014)

Posted by Chris Hall on Friday, November 21, 2014, In : New Review

Well, no one knows the true answer to these questions.  However, editor Alex Davis has complied an anthology that ponders...

Posted by Chris Hall on Sunday, November 16, 2014, In : New Review
Okay, so it’s been a Nightbreed comic heavy weekend.  As it was the final instalment into the ‘The Blasphemers’ story I couldn’t resist getting straight on with ‘Nightbreed – Issue 10’ (1991).

An excellent monsterlicious comic and a great one to end the blasphemers substory with.

NEW REVIEW: Clive Barker - Nightbreed Epic Comics #9 (1991)

I couldn’t help myself.  ‘Nightbreed – Issue Nine’ (1991) was calling.  After the disappointment of the previous issue I wanted to see if writer Daniel Chichester was going to put the series back on track.  And by Baphomet’s horns he’s done just that.  Top darts!

NEW REVIEW: Clive Barker - Nightbreed Epic Comics #8 (1991)

Another new review has been added to DLS Reviews.  This time for South African born author’s second novel ‘Above’ (2014).  Utterly breath-taking.  Unbelievably captivating.  A colossal novel of desperation, fear, love, remorse and heart-wrenching compassion.

Quite simply, you should read this novel.

See, I told you I’d get back into reviewing the original ‘Nightbreed’ comics!  After hinting towards a potential return to form with ‘Nightbreed – Issue 6’ (1990), how could I resist storming ahead with the next instalment?

And things are certainly beginning to heat up in the series.  ‘Nightbreed – Issue 7’ (1991) seems to be the issue that has the mission is to get things going.

Bring it on…

NEW REVIEW: Clive Barker - Nightbreed Epic Comics #6 (1990)

Posted by Chris Hall on Sunday, November 2, 2014, In : New Review
It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a comic / graphic novel.  In fact, I have meant to pick-up from where I left off with the original Nightbreed comics on numerous occasions, but with one thing and then another, they’ve kept getting pushed aside.

Furthermore, If I’m honest, after reading and reviewing ‘Nightbreed – Issue 5’ (1990), I was somewhat disheartened by the direction and overall feel that writer Daniel Chichester seemed to be taking the series in.  Nevertheless, I alw...
