If you like your novels dark, sexually-charged and incredibly explicit, then you won’t go far wrong with Barbie Wilde’s debut novel ‘The Venus Complex’ (2012).  ‘American Psycho’ (1991) meets the horror-porn of Graham Masterton.  The full review is now up on DLS Reviews.

NEW REVIEW: G.R. Yeates - Sevengraves (2014)

Posted by Chris Hall on Friday, June 20, 2014, In : New Review
And it’s a double-whammy Friday as far as new reviews go on the site.  Second offering is G.R. Yeates’ novella ‘Sevengraves’ (2014).  An eagerly-anticipated return to horror for this incredibly talented and criminally-underrated new author.  Well worth checking out.  Just keep yourself away from razorblades or randomly hanging nooses in the immediate vicinity when you read it.

NEW REVIEW: David Moody - Straight To You (2014)

Posted by Chris Hall on Friday, June 20, 2014, In : New Review
First up to the new additions onto DLS Reviews is the recently published and completely reworked version of David Moody’s tale ‘Straight To You’.  Originally published back in 1996, the story formed Moody’s debut offering – a heart-wrenching love story set over a monstrously apocalyptic backdrop.  I have to admit to being somewhat apprehensive about this new version – having incredibly fond memories of the original ‘Straight To You’ (1996).  But Moody has managed to produce a ...

It’s a double-whammy tonight.  Second review of the night – this one of the autobiography for the artist, musician, actor and writer - Tim Dry – entitled ‘Falling Upwards’ (2005).  A superb jaunt through the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and onwards.  Booze, drugs, women, sci-fi, electro, and art.  It’s a heck of a read by one hell of a creative individual.  Well worth a read...

NEW REVIEW: Aliens In The Mind (2006) - BBC Radio Sci-Fi Audiobook

Posted by Chris Hall on Saturday, June 7, 2014, In : New Review
New addition to the website is a review of the full-cast BBC Radio 4 audio presentation of ‘Aliens In The Mind’ (2006).  Another one of the audiobooks from the BBC’s truly excellent ‘Classic Radio Sci-fi’ series.  Over the last few days I’ve been ending the evenings listening to an episode or two of the audiobook whilst drinking a glass or two of a whisky and chomping on peppered beef jerky.  Gotta love it…
